📍 Historical Context

Lake Cochichewick
Lake Cochichewick is located in North Andover, Massachusetts. The lake was originally used as a fresh water supply for the town, established in the 1880s when the need arose for a more consistent and controlled source of water for the growing community. During the 20th century, it also became a popular recreational spot for ice boating and other water-based activities.

Did you know? Lake Cochichewick is named after a Native American word purportedly meaning “the place where the wild geese land”. The lakeside has been a significant habitat for a variety of migratory birds for centuries.
